Tired of your current Valorant username? Then it’s time for a change! Riot is one of the most popular game developers with well-known game titles such as League of Legends, Team Fight Tactics and of course, Valorant.
In 2020, Riot decided to change the way its username and account system was set up by applying some much-needed changes. Not only did the game developer switch to its now known ‘Riot accounts’, but this global account is all that players need to sign in and access any of Riot’s titles. As a matter of fact, the name-changing process has also been improved as it is completely free and easy to do, however, it isn’t the most obvious process.
We can all agree that a player’s game tagline should fully reflect them as a person, hence not being able to access a preferred name can be disheartening. Luckily, you don’t have to worry about this in Valorant, as you can change your display name in just a few simple steps.
Setting up your Valorant name
When you first set up your Valorant account, you’ll be asked to select your username. You will then need to choose out of the pool of display names available. It is important to note that if your name is not original then the game will automatically assign one to you. However, if you do have the original username then you will be given the region as your tagline.
How to change your Valorant name
If you’ve got a bit bored of your Valorant username and fancy a change, you can easily update it. Your Valorant name change can be done by following these eight simple steps:
- Go to the official Riot account settings website
- Log into your Riot account (this will be used to play Valorant)
- An email will then be sent to your registered email address regarding verification of your account using a One-Time Password (OTP)
- Once you submit the OTP you will be redirected to your Riot Account Management page
- Once on this page, on the right side of the screen, you will see your current account name
- Go to the Riot ID tab and edit it by entering your desired display name and unique tagline (if required) then save the changes
- Once that is done you can restart Valorant and it should be updated automatically
However, there’s a catch… Valorant name changes are only allowed once every month, so spend a little bit of time thinking it over and make sure it is the one you really want!
It has to be said though, that Riot’s decision to offer players the option to change their Valorant username is a great addition. Gamers can now play with their desired display names and in as little as eight simple steps, they can get back to the action.
